Brazil’s Bufoni wins girls’ competition!
Leticia Bufoni’s long trip from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Costa Mesa proved to be worth it.
The 17-year-old won $25,000 in the Cup girls’ skateboard street contest. She slid the back of her skateboard down a rail to finish first and take a two-point edge on second-place finisher Alexis Sablone. Marisa Del Santo took third.
Through a translator, she said her ability to compete well in all three sections of the street course led to the Cup championship.

Lucy in Basel
Just received an e-mail from the legend that is Lovenskate Stu, informing me that Lucy Adams (who has been smashing it of late, winning the Annual Girls Jam at Pioneer, and placing 3rd at Nass) shall be attending the Basel comp in Switzerland THIS WEEKEND for the European Skateboard Championships and its 10 year Anniversary Celebrations.
Here are a few words from the man himself…
Thanks to big Lars at Carhartt , Lovenskate has a stall there again. We have been working really hard to make some Basel product and this morning we finished it all, including 20 boards, 2000 stickers, a table cloth for the stall, and 60 limited edition Lovenskate /Carhartt collaboration T’s celebrating 10 years of the ESC.
Hopefully we can sell it all, and make enough money to feed Lucy and Ewen who’ll be out there shredding.
If you’re coming to Basel, see you in the Black Cross Bowl!!!
If you haven’t skated a lovenskate yet, get to the online shop and order yourself one of these rad boards, all handprinted in his London studio. The deck featured below is my favourite, “There is seriously too much RADNESS!” Limited edition, only 20 of these were made.
I want one!

More NASS Footage!
As you all know, the girls skate comp at NASS (hosted by Rubicon) this year went down a storm!
Skatergirl has its own footage of the event which you can see below, thanks to a Mr Mike McInally, along with a few words from Rogues very own, Jenna Selby..
Watch out for a few more photos & words from the NASS event…
In all 15 riders entered, fresh from her appearance at the Girl Skate Jam 2 weeks again Evelien Bouilliart made the trip over to the west of England.
The continental representative was Emma Lingden from Sweden. Furthest traveled were Kara Gaetz-Bruce (Canada) and champion supreme Letícia Bufoni (Brazil), hot off her 2nd place at Mystic Cup last week.
This year organisers had manged to arrange the comp for the earlier time of 8pm, although the BMXing qualifiers over ran so it was closer to 9pm before things kicked off. The girls competed in in a jam format – split into 4 groups – with the top rider from each qualifying for the final.
Group A – Charlotte Thatcher, Fran Stroud, Georgina Matthews and Helena Long.
Group B – Danni Gallacher, Charlotte Brennon, Lucy Adams and Kara Gaetz-Bruce.
Group C – Sophie Allen, Evelien Boulliart, Ellie Ford and Emma Lindgren
.
Group D – Letícia Bufoni, Emma Richardson and Claire Jones.
It was a no holds barred contest, Letícia and Evelien dominated the rail down the stairs with back smiths, lipslides and feebles been thrown down amongst other tricks.
Ellie Ford landed a good frontside heel on the bank, Emma Lindgren a frontside air out of the quatre, Helena an inward heel over the hip, Fran a double flip on the driveway and Emma a switch frontside 180 over the hip.
Lucy started off fairly shakey and it looked doubtful whether she would reach the final or not. There had been one or two issues with the music which was sorted out halfway through her run. Obviously a few beats kicking in did the job for her and she a feeble on the flat rail and a fakie flip on the steep bank to see her going through to the final.
The others who qualified were Letícia Bufoni, Evelien Bouilliart, Helena Long. A fifth was awarded to Emma for her performance in her run. There then followed some confusion, the organisers of the event decided that everything was over and everyone had to leave the arena. After 15minutes of no one really knowing what was happening it was decided that the final could take place. So the 5 girls took to the floor once more for another 5 minutes. What a final.
Everyone pushed themselves but it was clear from the start that it was going to be dominated by Evelien and Leticia. Both were using different parts of the park, but the comp ended up on the rail down the stairs. By this point MC Ben Powell announced that the final would actually not be finishing and the girls had all the time they wanted to do as many tricks down the rail as they could.
Leticia was ridiculous – front feeble followed by a back smith. Crowd were actually going wild! She then nollied, switch ollied and kick flipped the stairs, just because…she can! Evelien had also had a good run and was trying her hardest to blunt down the rail, on the majority of the tries she got to the bottom only to hit the floor at an awkward angle and fall off.
She had tweaked her ankle in the qualifiers, that coupled with a very drunk night before meant that she was just too tired in the end.
All in all a great comp…next stop UKSA! “

Get Hyped!
With NASS less than a fortnight to go, we thought we’d get you hyped with a few words from a very excited photographer, Ana Paula Neagro!
Ana will be joining us alongside Leticia Bufoni for the 2010 Girls NASS Competition which will be held over the weekend of July 9th at Bath West & Showground, Somerset UK.
“So the day is getting closer and we’re getting really excited to travel to Europe right after the Boston Dew Tour. We’ll be flying into Prague, Bristol and Rome.
We’re looking forward to the NASS event, and excited about coming to England to skate with the UK girls and I’ve always wanted to come because most of the bands I love are from the UK.
Plus I have some British friends and I just adore their sense of humor!
I’ve been always wondering if I ever been to London I would fall in love with the city?
Maybe… I can’t wait to find out.”
Ana
Check out Leticia killing it in her section of ‘Children Of The Revolution.”
