new sk8 girl :)

Hello all, I am new to posting here but I hope I can give you some great blogs and make some new and needed “girls who sk8″ friends. I actually wanted to talk about the apparel that is made for female skaters now. I had an experience the other day that really made me scratch my head. I went to my local sk8 shop to get some sliding gloves for me and my hubby so we can practice our sliding on our long-boards. I looked through out the store and they had some cool stuff for guys, i mean 3/4 of the store was dedicated to them alone. The last quarter was in the very corner of the room and it was so small i thought it was a joke at first lol. Only to go over there and see the only things that they had to sell for female athletes are the tiniest shorts I’ve ever seen in my life, bikini tops, and mini skirts. They had no skate shoes at all for females AND the biggest size in  clothes that they had was a 4.

*sighs* Ooookay…. correct me if im wrong but when you are an athlete don’t you put on muscle? and lose fat? If that be the case a size 0-4 couldn’t possibly fit. At least not for REAL SK8R GIRLS, not the posers.  I know I can’t be the only one in the girl sk8 community who feels this way, i have decided that once i graduate college I am going to open my own skate shop and I am also going to make clothes and accessories for girls to actually get some use out of when they are skating.

Nikita Photoshoot Contest Winners

As you know the Nikita Photoshoot Contest has been underway to find two ladies to join the Nikita crew in Mexico for the SS11 photoshoot which is going on right now. There was a fantastic response as always with over 150 girls e-mailing from literally every part of the world. Nikita’s boss and head designer, Heida Birgisdottir, and International Marketing Manager, Geiri, had their work cut out sifting through all the entries and selecting just two girls to participate but the winners have been chosen:

Nine Lives & Frankie Mag Presents Hand Drawn
