Element’s Power To The Planet
Element’s Power To The Planet project aims to redefine what it means to be part of a social and
environmental shift. Power To The Planet is about taking a stand, having a voice and following through
with passion and commitment to making a difference. Lacey Baker makes history!!
Lacey made history last weekend by being the first girl EVER to qualify for the Semi Finals at Tampa Am. She received an honourable mention after qualifiying 13th on Saturday and ended up in the 33rd spot (out of 200!) after the Semi-Finals on Sunday. Rob Meronek of the Skatepark of Tampa said: “Girls don’t get judged any different in any of our events, especially Tampa Am. That could be why there has never been a girl that made the cut to Sunday in Tampa. Lacey Baker changed that today. Lacey Baker joins Etnies
She’s already won the Mystic Cup and Maloof Money Cup in 2008 and now she’s got herself hooked up with Etnies. And to make sure they know they’ve got themselves one of the hottest up-and-coming skaters, she quickly takes 2nd place in the ladies street jam final of Goofy vs Regular comp on Sunday 5th October. Good work.

Billed as the Worlds Greatest Skateboard Competition, the Maloof Money Cup kicked off on July 20th. Full story soon but the results were as follows:

Lacey Baker Wins Women’s Street Final at Slam City Jam 2006
CALGARY (Sunday, August 27th,2006) – American teenage sensation Lacey Baker today captured her first North American women’s Street title at the $100,000 Slam City Jam professional skateboard championships at the Calgary Corral at Stampede Park.
Baker, a 14-year-old from Covina, Ca. who is sponsored by Billabong, Element, Venture, Utility Boardshop, Es and Bones, scored 89.00 points in the Street final to win $2,500 US in first-place prize money. A bronze medallist at this year’s X Games 12 in Los Angeles, Baker edged out Vanessa Torres of Modesto, Ca., who finished second with 83.50 points.
Defending Slam City Street titleholder Amy Caron of Los Angeles was forced to settle for a fifth-place finish with 74.50 points, behind No. 3 Lauren Perkins of Huntington Beach, Ca. (82.25) and No. 4 Marissa Del Santo of Chicago (79.00).
The Women’s Street final is being followed by the Women’s Vert, Men’s Vert and Men’s Street championships Sunday evening.
